The Sight Words Game for Kids is a free, simple game tohelpchildren learn how to spell and recognize frequently used wordsofEnglish language compiled by Edward William Dolch, PhD. Thelistwas first prepared in 1936. Though Dr. Dolch compiled thelistbased on children's books of his era. The list contains 220"sightwords" that have to be easily recognized in order toachievereading fluency in the English language. The game isdesigned tohelp children think smartly and recognize sounds,putting letterstogether into words to make the children thinklogically toidentify the structure of different English words. Manyof theoriginal 220 Dolch words cannot be learned by pictures or"soundedout" using common sound/letter phonics patterns and have tobelearned by sight; hence the term, "sight words." The originalDolchwords which compromise of 220 words should be learnedbeforeelementary education begins. The game consists of 44 levelswith 5words in each level ordered by 'High Frequency'. All thelettersthat form the word are scattered on the screen and the wordisspoken out at the start of the gameplay . The kid has to drageachletter and drop them on to their respective placeholdersvisible atthe centre of the screen. The word can be listened to anynumber oftimes during the game by clicking on the speaker image.The kidscan take a hint two times per level if they feel thedifficulty incompleting the word. To avail a hint you have to clickon the heartsymbol on the top left corner of the game screen. Thelevelsunlocked and the stars achieved in each level are visiblebyclicking on the 'Levels' button on main menu.
